New protests, the army shoots and kills at least eight Tibetans
Two days ago, more protests exploded in the Tibetan area of Sichuan. The crowd was asking for the release of two monks, guilty of possessing a photo of the Dalai Lama. Beijing admits to the protests, and according to witnesses the troops fired on the crowd.

A hundred Tibetan monks arrested after protesting death of another monk
Tashi Sangpo, 28, had been jailed for flying the Tibetan flag. He jumped into a river, possibly in order to escape torture by the Chinese police. Fears over the further reprisals that the authorities could carry out in a country kept far from the eyes of the world.

Tanks in Lhasa, Beijing issues an ultimatum to the Tibetans
The Chinese government has confirmed the death of 10 people during clashes in recent days in Tibet, but accuses the demonstrators of their death. The government in exile says there are at least 100 victims; Tibetans in India resume their march to return home.

Tibet reopens to foreign tourism, with restrictions for journalists and tourists
More than three months after the repression, foreign tourists are returning to Tibet, but they need special permits to go outside of Lhasa. Severe restrictions are still in place for journalists. Meanwhile, those who protested remain in prison, and talks with the Dalai Lama are not moving forward.
