Iraq’s Chaldean bishop’s appeal to the Sharm el-Sheikh summit and the world’s Muslims
The prelates publish a letter addressed to the international representatives gathered in Egypt for the future of Iraq. They ask for an end to violence against Christians and a return to the united effort to rebuild the country in peace and respect of diversity.
Kidnappers of Mosul bishop, raise the ransom
Yesterday evening, another telephone call, increasing the ransom and dictating conditions which “complicate the case”. Still no guarantees on the “wellbeing” of the bishop, abducted on February 29th. These latest developments raise fears that these are no ordinary criminals interested solely in money. Iraq’s premier sends a message to the Chaldean Patriarch.

Chaldean patriarch thanks pope for sharing Iraq's "anguish and suffering"
Emmanuel Delly, Chaldean patriarch, thanked Benedict XVI for supporting two days of prayer and fasting for peace and security in Iraq. The country's Muslims have also joined in the appeal. Hundreds of people are killed every day across Iraq.
The Chaldean Church opens its Synod tomorrow in Northern Iraq.

Archbishop of Erbil: Iraqi Church, a merciful witness of persecuted Christians
