Filipino Catholic Band launches album dedicated to Christmas

After 26 years a new collection focusing on the birth of Jesus. The official presentation on 12 October in Manila, with a free concert open to the public. On the band’s website a few tracks available. A mix of songs in Filipino and English , which speak of the historical " characters and events ".

Manila ( AsiaNews ) - The Catholic Filipino musical group Bukas Palad Music Ministry is launching a new album focused on Christmas songs and carols.  26 years after the first collection dedicated to the festive seaon, " Behold the Child" ( the child 's ) will be released in the coming days, a compilation which through 12 covers and 9 original songs recounts the birth of Jesus. Their music - more than a hundred pieces in liturgical background - puts various passages of the Bible to music and their most popular songs are often interpreted during Mass, such as the local version of the Glory be to God and the Lamb of God

In presenting the event , which was published on their Facebook page , the group points out that " the Christmas story is intertwined in a mixture of songs in English and Filipino , using a wide range of different musical genres ." And they add that "these songs reflect the characters and events that mark the birth of Jesus."

 The launch of the new album - with a preview of some songs on their website - and the songbook of the Bukas Palad Music Ministry will coincide with a concert, scheduled on October 12, at 7 pm, in the courtyard of the Ateneo de Manila High School. The Bukas Palad Music Ministry ( Filipino for " open hands ") is a Filipino Catholic band dedicated to writing, recording and playing sacred music live. Since 1986 it has composed and released 18 albums , thanks to the active contribution of the Jesuit Music Ministry , the cultural and music wing of the Jesuit Comunications Foundation. They are inspired by the spirituality of St. Ignatius of Loyola , and through their songs , intend to give glory to God and to become builders of peace, love and hope. Over the years they have become famous - and popular - at home and abroad , with concerts and live performances in Japan , Hong Kong, the United States and Canada.
