More than one thousand Catholics in Karachi prepare for Christmas together

Even though Pakistan has been undergoing some difficult times, the Catechetical Centre Karachi was able to unite the people through a preparation programme to reflect and prepare for the birth of the Savior.
Karachi (AsiaNews) – The preparations for Advent and for Christmas are, for every Christian, a personal journey toward a meeting and dialogue with God," said Father Edward Joseph. “Advent is the sacred season of anticipation and expectation in which we prepare for the coming of our blessed Savior. I humbly request all of you to live the Advent season as an awareness of a presence of our Lord that changes our lives”.  Fr. Joseph is rector of St. Patrick's Cathedral and the Guest of Honor at the event where on November 24th the Catechetical Centre of Karachi organised a preparation programme for the Advent Season and Christmas.

For the director of the Centre, Father Arthur Charles, the real success was the influx of people at the meeting, regardless of the social and political tension that is striking Pakistan: “One could feel a thrill of joy as the people came. It was a sign that they were coming, above all, to learn and to re-awake their faith, hope and love”.

After a brief introduction, the participants prayed and reflected on the Christmas Scriptures. Fr. Charles said “the focus of the programme was to educate the people to extend their help to the neglected and forgotten of the society. Not only during Christmas, but it also educates every aspect of life”.
