Seoul (AsiaNews) - The archdiocese of Seoul has concluded the 50 days of commemoration for Cardinal Stephen Kim with a solemn Mass celebrated on April 6 by Cardinal Nicholas Chung Jun-suk in Seoul, at his tomb in Yongsan, in which hundreds of faithful participated.
Cardinal Chung recalled Cardinal Kim's last words: "thank you, love one another," which were written on stickers that were distributed to those present. He urged everyone to follow his example, and "to launch a movement to expand the spirit of thanks, sharing and love."
Cardinal Kim donated his corneas for transplant. The Catholic television station PBC has highlighted that his example has prompted great admiration among the population. Since then, cornea donations have increased tenfold, with about 4,700 new donors who want - as one of them said - "to offer a part of oneself for the sake of other people who need it."
