Jerusalem (AsiaNews / Agencies) - The
bomber who blew himself up on a bus of Israeli tourists (pictured) at Burgas
airport, Bulgaria, had a
false U.S.
passport. The explosion caused seven deaths, six of which Israelis and 34 wounded,
some of them severe.
The Bulgarian Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, said the attack was due to a suicide
bomber and not, as it was thought at first, a bomb placed in the trunk of the bus.
"The odious attack on the soil of a sovereign state, a member of the
European Union - he added - is a challenge that indicates the sabotage of
efforts to promote peace."
The bomber, a Caucasian man, with long hair and in sportswear, is shown by the
surveillance cameras wandering around for an hour near the airport.
Two air force C-130 Hercules have been chartered to arrive and bring the
Israeli who have suffered the attack back at home.
The attack was also condemned by the U.S. President, Barack Obama, who in a telephone
call to Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu, offered U.S. aid in
investigations. For his part Netanyahu has already indicated who is responsible. "All signs lead to Iran. In recent
months - he added - we have seen Iranian attempts to attack Israelis in Thailand, India,
Georgia, Kenya, Cyprus and other places."
