Korea, "Gangnam Style" exceeds 2.14 billion hits and breaks YouTube
The video exceeds view limit and Google is forced to upgrade its counter - based on a 32-bit integer variable. The text of the song mocks South Korea’s “Nouveau riche” and their hedonistic lifestylr devoid of values.

Seoul (AsiaNews) - The "Gangnam Style" music video has exceeded YouTube site view limits since it was posted 18 months ago. After breaking the record of 2.14 billion views, the technical staff of the wildly popular online portal have been forced to upgrade its counting system, and in the ten hours since the upgrade the video has touched 2.15 billion clicks.

Computer giant Google, owner of YouTube, posted  on its social page. "We never thought a video would be watched in numbers greater than a 32-bit integer... but that was before we met Psy. The 'Gangnam Style' has been seen so many times that we need to do an update".

Now the new system provides a maximum of views based on a 64-bit integer variable, which can reach up to 9,223,372,036,854,775,808, or more than nine quintillion. Among other things, is also the odds of randomly picking a "perfect bracket" - that is, the correct final placement of each of the 64 teams in the annual NCAA college basketball tournament in the US. Billionaire Warren Buffett will give you bn if you do this.

So far the South Korean rapper Psy, short for "Psycho", has yet to comment. His hit speaks of Gangnam, a popular district of Seoul that has undergone a radical transformation in recent years, becoming the paradise of the nations' new rich. Although the video may seem like a defense of an empty and hedonistic way of life, the text is actually a fierce criticism of the South Koreans "mandarins" system, who live on appearances and ostentation.
