Deva Sadhvi Thakur, vice president of the All India Hindu Mahasabha, also wants to build a statue dedicated to the Mahatma Gandhi’s murderer. She also wants India’s federal government to impose a “state of emergency”. For the president of the Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC), she should be arrested for "sedition and xenophobia".

Mumbai (AsiaNews) – Sadhvi Deva Thakur, vice president of All India Hindu Mahasabha, said that Muslims and Christians should undergo sterilisation to restrict their growing population, which she describes as a threat to Hindus.

Through AsiaNews, Sajan George, president of the Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC), slammed “the obstinate diatribes by Hindutva groups against India’s minority communities,” saying that “Hindu Mahasabha leader Sadhvi Deva Thakur should be arrested “for sedition and xenophobia”.

"The population of Muslims and Christians is growing day by day,” Thakur warned on Saturday.

Hence, “To rein in this, the Centre (the federal government) will have to impose emergency [rule], and Muslims and Christians will have to be forced to undergo sterilisation so that they can't increase their numbers".

In addition to forced sterilisation of minority Indians, the vice president of All India Hindu Mahasabha has also called for Hindu idols to be placed in churches and mosques.

She also wants to erect a statue in Haryana dedicated to Nathuram Godse, the "patriot" and militant with the Hindu paramilitary group Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi in 1948.

According to Sajan George, Deva Sadhvi Thakur’s statements are not only a stain on India’s secular constitution, but also “an insult to the thousands of people who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our nation.”

The GCIC wants the president of India to intervene to save the nation from the growing attacks from anti-social and anti-constitutional elements and groups.

For George, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assurances that ell sections of Indian society will be safe and secure are only “window dressing” to avoid international censure.
