Dazhou (AsiaNews/Agencies) The rainy season continues to kill and cause mayhem in southern China.
Last week, flood waters swept through Dazhou, in the south-western province of Sichuan, causing the death of 29 peopleat least seven people are reported missing.
Some 26,000 homes have collapsed as flood waters rose and 250,000 people were forced to flee.
The rainy season this year has been the worst for a century. At least 600 people in the south have died from floods already. Countless are those who have been left homeless.
Total cost for the damage has been estimated at around 11.3 billion yuans (US$ 1.3 billion).
The Civil Affairs and Finance Ministers have allocated 35 million yuans for Guangxi and Fujian, the most affected provinces.
The government has also sent 9,000 troops to Guangxi to help the population build temporary dikes.
Severe damage was also reported in the provinces of Guangdong, Jiangxi, Zhejiang and Hunan.
But according to the National Weather Centre, the intensity of the rains has been dropping for at least at week.
