Chiang Rai (AsiaNews/Agencies) – After hours of unconfirmed reports from sources within the rescue mission, Thai Navy Seals have just confirmed that eight boys are out - with four evacuated from the Tham Luang cave today. That leaves four kids and the football coach who became trapped underground on 23 June.
The rescue began yesterday with the first four boys brought out. The authorities have not yet released names, merely saying that "they are in good health".
The daring operation to bring to the surface the kids, all aged between 11 and 16 years, was suspended for ten hours to replenish oxygen supplies and make other preparations deep inside the cave complex.
Rescue mission chief Narongsak Osottanakorn said that the names of the rescued boys have not been released out of respect for the families of those still waiting to be saved.
He added that the boys were being kept away from their parents due to fear of infection they might have contracted in the cave.
