'No mercy' for Bo Xilai, who accuses Wang Lijun of being his wife Gu Kailai’s lover

by Wang Zhicheng
The combative former chief of Chongqing admits "abuse of power" and apologizes to the Party. But calls the former police chief and former right hand man "a liar", in cahoots with his wife. The many revelations reveal squalor of entire Party leadership. A communist "Dynasty".

Jinan (AsiaNews) - On the fifth day of the trial against the former Party chief of Chongqing, the prosecutor today asked that 'no mercy' be shown to Bo Xilai, accused of bribery, corruption and abuse of power. This because - claims the prosecution - he shows no signs of repentance in the face of the serious crimes attributed to him.

For his part, Bo continues to deny receiving bribes, but admits that he sometimes abused his power, a fact - he says - that "undermines the image of the Party and state. And for that I'm sorry."

Yesterday, in a courtroom that increasingly resembles a series of "Dynasty" full of intrigue, violence, deceit, passion and adultery, hit its highest level, when Bo Xilai revealed that Wang Lijun, former police chief of Chongqing and his right hand man was cheating on him with his wife Gu Kailai, sentenced to death for the murder of British businessman Neil Heywood.

Wang was also condemned for covering up the murder and testified against Bo, claiming he was beaten by him, after telling him that his wife was suspected of murder. Bo denied attacking Wang, but called him "a liar and a fraud." He admitted that Wang took refuge in the U.S. Consulate in Chengdu because of his bad treatment of him, forcing the Party to take steps in a case that had become international.

Bo also stated that the real cause of Wang's flight was his discovery of the relationship between him and his wife: "... The real reason, as Wang has confessed himself, is that he had hidden feelings for Gu Kailai. He was consumed with these feelings and couldn't control himself. He had also confessed to Gu Kailai, he said so in his letter to Gu Kailai .... He knows my personality. He invaded my family, invaded my basic emotions. This is the real reason he defected. Wang Lijun wants to muddy up the water. "

In recent days, Bo had confessed to having had many extra-marital relations and because of that his wife had decided to go and live abroad, bringing their son Bo Guagua with her. In defending himself against accusations of bribes, he revealed that his wife had a lot of money with her, hundreds of thousands of Euros, as well as sterling, dollars and yuan.

In turn, Gu Kailai, filmed in her testimony, revealed the carefree life of her son Bo Guagua: superfast cars, vacations and trips abroad, generous invitations for college friends, a villa in France with 4 thousand square meters of garden on the Côte d'Azur.

The Bo trial is becoming - perhaps in spite of the leadership's best efforts - a showcase of how members of the Communist Party of China manage their absolute power.
