A tribute to Benedict XVI in words and pictures

From greeting the faithful on 19 April 2005-"a simple and humble labourer in the vineyard of the Lord" -to the renunciation expressed during the consistory for the canonisation of the Martyrs of Otranto: 62 pages of words and pictures.

Vatican City (AsiaNews) - Since the day the Apostolic See became vacant, a photo tribute to the ministry of the pope emeritus was posted on the website of the Holy See. It includes 62 pictures with quotes from the highlights of the pontificate of Benedict XVI: from his greetings to the faithful on the day of his election, on 19 April 2005, to his renunciation during the consistory for the canonisation of the Martyrs of Otranto.

The tribute, which has references to speeches the pope emeritus made on various occasions, was prepared by the Vatican's Internet Service. Most of the photos come from the Osservatore Romano. It is available in almost all of the languages of the website, except for Chinese and Latin. To see the English edition, please click here.
