Mgr Georges Abou Khazen is in contact with the Franciscan friar who was kidnapped and released in the north of the country. The latter is free to visit his community but "cannot leave Syria" before meeting with local Muslim leader. The reasons for his abduction and for the meeting remain a mystery. For moderate Muslims, Christians "are a source of dialogue and reconciliation in an absurd war."

Negotiations with the kidnappers is ongoing, nothing yet known about the date of their alleged release. Archbishop Yohanna Ibrahim, Syriac Orthodox bishop of the diocese of Aleppo and Msgr. Boulos Yaziji, were kidnapped on April 22, just 10 km from Aleppo, near the Turkish border. Greek-Melkite Bishop criticizes false information on the alleged release of prelates abounding in Western media. "Here there are men and women who risk their lives to affirm and tell the truth and and who resist bargaining with the rebels, religious groups, or regime."

Horror in Aleppo: "moderate" rebel group beheads Palestinian child
The Nour al-Din al-Zenki movement beheads 11-year old Abdallah Issa shouting "Allah Akbar". The child was executed for collaborating with government forces. Before he died he was tortured. The group’s leaders try to back away from the barbaric killing. The group is supported by Turkey, the US, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
