Five Indian companies among the "greatest innovators" in the world

They are: Larsen & Toubro (construction), Hindustan Unilever (consumer goods), Infosys (IT services), Tata Consultancy Services (computers), and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (pharmaceutical industry). Ranked by famous American magazine Forbes.

New Delhi (AsiaNews / Agencies) - The American magazine Forbes has included five Indian companies in the list of "most innovative companies in the world": Larsen & Toubro, Hindustan Unilever, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries. The first four places, however, are all made in the USA: Salesforce.com, a company specializing in software; Alexion Pharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical industry devoted primarily to research in hematology, Amazon.com, one of the largest online trading companies in the world , specializing in books, DVDs and CDs, and Red Hat, a company dedicated to the development of free software.

Three key factors evaluated: How well companies leverage people, process, and philosophies, differentiates the best in class from the next in class when it comes to keeping innovation alive and delivering an innovation premium year after year

Larsen & Toubro, with an annual growth in sales of 19%, was ranked ninth in the standings. Founded in 1938, the multinational has its headquarters in Mumbai and is the largest Indian company in engineering and construction.

Hindustan Unilever (Hul), the largest Indian manufacturer of consumer goods, occupies 12th place, with a growth of 11, 4%. The company is owned by the Anglo-German Unilever, which owns 52% of the shares and is the third largest company in the world in the sector.

Infosys won 19th place, it is a computer services business based in Bangalore, the "Silicon Valley" of India. In explaining its inclusion of the company in the ranking, Forbes also named S. D. Shibulal, co-founder and CEO, emphasizing his qualities of "observer and experimenter."

Tata Consultancy Services, specializes in the production of computer programs and the Indian giant Tata Group, is in 29th place. Finally, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Limited, a pharmaceutical company that operates in the United States, is in 38th place.
