Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and President Hassan Rouhani intend to "stimulate" relations between the two countries. The emir expresses "gratitude" for Teheran's contribution. Trade over last 12 months reaches 250 million. A company linked to Doha, ready to buy out a prestigious New Yok building from Trump's son-in-law.
Doha (AsiaNews / Agencies) - Qatar has personally thanked Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, for Tehran’s support in the context of the crisis between Doha and Gulf nations led by Saudi Arabia. Yesterday, in a telephone conversation, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and Rouhani discussed how to "stimulate" relations between the two countries.
The emir expressed "gratitude" to the Iranian president for his contribution to the economy of Qatar, in particular for "the opening of the airspace and territorial waters". Trade between the two countries continues to grow, reaching 250 million dollars in the last 12 months.
Tehran also offered help in preparing the World Cup in 2022 in Qatar.
According to some, the clash between Qatar and Saudi Arabia originates from the ties between Doha and Tehran. In fact behind the controversy there would be a counterattack within Sunni Islam and, in particular, between Doha and Abu Dhabi.
Meanwhile, the leaders of Qatar have "started negotiations" with the family of Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, aimed at buying a prestigious building on Fifth Avenue, in New York, one of the most valuable areas of Big Apple. The company Brookfield Properties, which has the Doha government among its main investors, will conduct operations. For some time the Kushner family has been trying to get rid of the building, failing to cover the interest on the loan for its purchase. Moreover, it has not been able to guarantee the desired profit in these years.
