Ibrahim arrested again, along with her husband and children

Forty police officers detained her family at the airport. The reasons for their detention not yet known.

Khartoum (AsiaNews/Agencies) - Meriam Ibrahim, a Sudanese Christian woman recently released from prison after a court cancelled her death sentence, was rearrested.

About 40 security agents detained her along with her husband Daniel Wani and their two children at Khartoum airport on their way out of the country.

Ms Ibrahim was arrested in February and sentenced to death in May on charges of apostasy. Yesterday the Court of Appeal overturned her death sentence and she was released.

The authorities have not provided any explanation for the re-arrest, and nothing is known about where she and her family are being held.
