Immigrant children integration through summer activities in Taiwan
A Catholic group and municipal authorities work together to help children learn the language of their new country and that of their mothers'. Summer schools also take a burden off the shoulders of working parents. The project is available in Taipei, Kaohsiung, Taichung and Yilan.

The cardinal has contributed to peace and ethnic harmony especially visiting the victims of Typhoon Morakot. Also awarded an NGO of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, for the care of teenagers forced into prostitution. Awards will be presented by Ma Ying-jeou on 1 November.
Story of sisters who help victims of family violence becomes a documentary
The congregation of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd have launched an initiative to support women and children experiencing domestic abuse. The numbers are shocking. In Taiwan in 2008 alone there were 75,438 cases known to the government, in 2009, the number rose to 83,728, in 2010 98,720.

Sri Lanka: Sisters of the Good Shepherd celebrate Christmas with the poorest children
In the villages of Wewala, Weligampitiya and Kalaeliya near Jael, the nuns gave birth to a free afternoon school for poor and sick children. On 22 December they celebrated Christmas with gift to all 52 of them school uniforms and books.
Work of training, formation at Ho Chi Minh City parish
Thanks to the help of the Italian bishops, in the parish of St. Paul in the district of Binh Tan a training house has been built that can accommodate 500 people participating in formation courses.

65 Drop in centres and hospices in Ho Chi Minh City not only offer new hope to the small abandoned children, they also give fresh opportunities for work experience to students who want to work in the field of social welfare.
