London Bridge attackers named, filled with hate preached by imams

Scotland Yard has released the names and photos of two of the London Bridge attackers. Prayers by imams in Makkah against Shias, Christians and Jews make Sunni Muslims in London, Paris or Berlin carry out extreme actions. North African Sunnis bless the attacks. For a young Muslim, Sunnism brainwashes.

London (AsiaNews) – Scotland Yard has released the names and photos of two of the men who carried out Saturday’s terror attack in London. They are Khuram Butt, 27, married with children, who lived for many years in Barking, London, and Rachid Redouane, 30, also of Barking.

Butt is thought to have led the cell that carried out the attack. He appears in a Channel 4 documentary on Islamic extremism in the United Kingdom unfurling an Islamic State flag at Regent's Park. In the video aired last year, he is seen with two Islamic preachers known to law enforcement.

British counter-terrorism police chief Mark Rowley confirmed that Butt was known to security services, but there was no evidence he was planning attacks. In the same documentary, Butt is seen talking with the police patrolling the public park.

Radicalisation and the way it occurs are at the centre of a political debate in United Kingdom. Politicians are questioning British foreign policy, its alliances with Saudi Arabia, and Gulf states funding for mosques and preachers.

"It's no wonder when you hear the imam of Makkah praying against Shias, Christians, Jews,” said Kamel Abderrahmani, a young Muslim student.

Their words make Sunni Muslims in Britain, France or Germany take action and Sunni Muslims in North Africa bless the attack, at first with discretion and then in an increasingly convinced and open way."

Unfortunately, "the hatred that continues to grow is fuelled by apocryphal texts and various Machiavellian interpretations of the Qurʾān."

The latter "represents peace," Abderrahmani added, "but unfortunately it has been transformed into a book of war; indeed, into a bible of hate."
