Alongside anti-Putin demonstrations, the Orthodox community continues its street protests. Approximately 300 cars paraded through the centre of the capital calling for a "Russia without abortions."

Russian president receives a Russian Orthodox delegation to commemorate the restoration of the Moscow Patriarchate in 1917 after its abolition by Peter the Great. For many observers, this is the latest move in the election campaign for the Duma. Muslims have already voiced their support for Putin’s party, United Russia.

Church and state work closer together for a strong and united Russia. The government announces two billion rubles to restore holy places destroyed by Communism. The Middle East and extremism, but also ecumenism, in talks between Putin and Pope
A Vatican statement tells of a “very positive atmosphere” and “cordial relations”. Putin referred greetings from Alexi II, the Pope in turn sent his greetings to the Patriarch. Moscow Patriarchate sources tended to exclude that Benedict XVI and the Russian President would have touched on questions linked to relations between Catholics and Orthodox in Moscow.
Mgr Kondrusiewicz received by Moscow Patriarchate for first time in years
The Archbishop of the Mother of God was received by Metropolitan Kirill. They highlighted the "union" of the two churches in facing challenges posed by the modern world. The Orthodox Patriarchate requested "coordination" of respective local activities. The problem of orphanages and new parishes was discussed.
