Pope receives Thai Prime, understanding and cooperation between Church and State

In the "cordial discussions" at the Vatican Ms. Yingluck Shinawatra stresses the importance of intercultural and interreligious dialogue.

Vatican City (AsiaNews) - "The good relations between Thailand and the Holy See, as well as the mutual understanding and co-operation between the Church and the State, especially in the fields of education and social welfare" were on the agenda of discussion during the meeting between Pope Francis and the Prime Minister of Thailand, Yingluck Shinawatra.

A Vatican statement described the audience as "friendly" as well as the meeting between Ms. Shinawatra with Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone SDB who was accompanied by Msgr. Dominique Mamberti, Secretary for Relations with States.

Talks focused on " various matters of current international interest and the political situation in Asia, focusing in particular on the importance of intercultural and interreligious dialogue for the promotion of human rights, peace and justice throughout the region".
