UN Security Council condemns North Korea missile tests
They are a threat to regional and international security and violate three United Nations resolutions. Seoul welcomes the UN decision as "quick and appropriate."

Seoul (AsiaNews / Agencies) - The UN Security Council condemned the recent North Korean missile test, calling them a threat to regional and international security. They violate three United Nations resolutions, which prohibit North Korea all activity related to the launch of ballistic missiles.

On 4 July, coinciding with Independence Day celebrations in the United States, Pyongyang launched seven short-range Scud-type missiles, with a range of between 400 and 500 km. In the days before North Korea had launched four other shorter-range missiles.

The UN sanctions toward the communist regime were strengthened in May, after the second underground nuclear test by Pyongyang. They prevent North Korea from exporting weapons and allow only imports of small arms.

The resolutions of the United Nations Security Council allow for the inspection of vessels flying the flag of North Korea, that are suspected of carrying weapons. A decision that Pyongyang considers a threat to its sovereignty, promising a "strong response" in case of controls.

The South Korean government welcomes the condemnation of the United Nations of North Korea’s missile tests, stressing that it represents a "quick and appropriate” step.  According to Seoul the entire international community wants to send a warning against "the constant provocations” of the Pyongyang regime.

What is the true good of the Church in China
by Card. Joseph Zen Ze-kiunOn the eve of an important meeting in Rome on "Jesus our contemporary," Card. Zen asks all Catholics to help the Church in China (and especially its legitimate bishops) to emerge from ambiguity, to follow Benedict XVI and "rid" themselves of those organisms that are enemies of the faith (see PA, Bureau of Religious Affairs, etc. .), and that control and stifle the faithful. The Chinese Church is on the verge of a schism caused by "bargaining" between the Catholic faith and political power. The subtitle of this article (wanted by the author) is: "In dialogue with the Community of Saint Egidio and Gianni Valente of 30Days".

Msgr. Savio Hon: Freedom for arrested bishops and priests, is also good for China
by Bernardo CervelleraEven if the government does not give answers or to the Holy See, or diplomats, or to friends of the Vatican and China, it is important that "no one forgets about them." The Chinese government's official response when asked is always: "We do not know." "We need to pray first," "but we must also appeal to those who are holding them."
