Human Rights Watch slams Saudi-led coalition for using cluster bombs in Yemen
Between April and July, the Saudis carried out at least seven attacks in which they employed such weapons with devastating effect. HRW calls for a stop to their use, urging the parties to the conflict to sign the treaty banning them. Meanwhile, joint Arab League regional force has been postponed under Saudi pressure.

Jailed Burmese students in isolation for going a hunger strike

The students are protesting the refusal by the authorities to let them out on bail to take exams scheduled for September. The four students, who are from a Mandalay university, were arrested on July 1 for demonstrating against education reform. For Myanmar activists, the four have been abused and denied their basic rights.

Census data covering 2001-2011 show Muslims increased by 0.8 per cent whilst Hindus rose 0.7 per cent. Muslims and Hindus are 172 million and 966 million respectively out of a total of a population of 1.2 billion. Christians make up 2.3 per cent of the population, but grew by 15.5 per cent.
