The unusual performance took place during a prayer competition organised by the Jogye Order, the largest Buddhist order in the Asian country. The plague detected in Gansu: 30 thousand people in Yumen under quarantine
A resident skinned a groundhog feed it to his dog and contracted pneumonic plague, the only one of the 3 strains of the disease that can be transmitted from human to human. After his hospitalization and death, the authorities have sealed the area off: the quarantine expires tomorrow, but 151 residents will remain under observation. Since 2002, WHO has reported a total of 7 outbreaks of pneumonic plague.

Downed plane: bodies moved in Ukraine, the black boxes delivered to Malaysians
Parties continue to trade accusations. Moscow now blames a Ukrainian fighter that flew on the same path as the civilian plane. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said that the remains of 282 victims will be processed, whilst another 16 are still officially missing.

Wenzhou: Christian pastor goes on hunger strike to stop church demolition
Zhan Yingsheng, head of the Salvation Church, locked himself inside the tower to prevent the destruction of the cross that stands on the roof of his church. On a hunger strike since 16 July, he does not fear death. "I have changed: I was a coward and found courage. [. . .] I do not seek publicity; I took this decision because I do not have alternatives."
