Manila (AsiaNews) - A new magazine to present Christianity to young people in high schools in the Philippines. 'Gospel Now' is an initiative promoted by the Communication Foundation for Asia (CFA). The Catholic editorial group already includes a number of magazines intended for elementary and high school students.

Fr. Filoteo C. Pellingon, a priest of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart and president of the CFA, explains that Gospel Now was created to communicate the Gospel and to proclaim its message in the context in which the young people in Filipino high schools are living today. The magazine reflects the vision of the Catholic Education Association of the Philippines (CEAP), largest organization of Catholic schools in the country, with more than 1,200 members.

Gospel Now is intended to urge students to rediscover the importance of the faith and morality, in addition to encouraging their involvement in society. The editorial initiative is one of the proposals recently issued by Catholic educational groups in view of the presidential election in 2010. The aims of the CFA include that of prompting Filipino young people to feel responsible for events in the country, and to take initiative to assist the process of its reform.
