Teheran (AsiaNews) - Sakineh has not been freed. The state Press-TV, denied the news last night contradicting assertions of the Berlin-based anti-stoning committee.
The Committee had based its claims on a photo showing Sakineh together with his son inside his house. But the Tehran broadcaster certified, "Contrary to a vast publicity campaign by Western media that confessed murderer Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani has been released, a team of broadcast production team with the Iran-based Press TV has arranged with Iran's judicial authorities to follow Ashtiani to her house to produce a visual recount of the crime at the murder scene". On that occasion the photo, shown above, was taken.
Press-TV adds that the reconstruction of Sakineh’s "crime" - the murder of her husband - will be broadcast tonight on "Iran Today", during which the woman's son, Sajjad Asgharzadeh, and his lawyer Hootan Kian will also be interviewed. Both were arrested Oct. 10 last, along with two German journalists, and there have been rumors that the son and lawyer were tortured.
Iran, states the broadcaster, "has cited political motives behind the Western propaganda effort ", " part of a Western campaign to undermine the Islamic Republic establishment".
