Tsoe (AsiaNews) - Chinese authorities have arrested Kalsang Tsultrim, better known as Gyitsang Takmig for the umpteenth time, known for his tireless work to preserve the Tibetan language and culture. The police Sang-chu County, in the "Autonomous" Gansu province of Tibet, detained him last December 16 and since then all trace of him has been lost, even though his official arrest was announced only last night.
The activist is well known throughout the region for his work on behalf of the Tibetan language and culture. On being arrested he was found in possession of more than 2,500 DVD where - along with other activists and academics - he explained the history of the region and damage of the Chinese invasion. According to Beijing, he is guilty of "having committed political mistakes."
In addition to video, Takmig wrote a very famous book: the Miyul La Phul Ve Sempa, translated as "Sharing the thoughts of my heart." This is a text in which the dissident voices the concerns of the Tibetan people for the behaviour of the Chinese in the area. Since his arrest, the family has repeatedly called for explanation from the authorities who so far, have refused to provide one.
