A website is making Taiwan known through its cuisine
Created by the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in six languages, the site has recently launched its version in Italian. The initiative seeks to present the ancient history of Taiwan through food. And this through trivia, clips and interviews with chefs and culinary experts.

Taipei (AsiaNews) - The website  taiwanfoodculture.net, made by the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), has opened the page in Italian of "The Culture of Food in Taiwan." The new version is added to those in Chinese, English, Japanese, Spanish, French, German, Russian and Korean.

The initiative aims to spread the Taiwanese cuisine throughout the world, especially from the cultural point of view. Thanks to its geographical location and its historical background, Taiwan has seen different cuisines blend into a single gastronomic thread. Influences from mainland China and Japan have merged with the local culinary traditions creating new dishes, simple or elaborate.

The site is divided into seven sections: Taiwanese cuisine, Taiwanese seafood cuisine, Chinese fusion cuisine, foods of the nighttime markets, native dishes, Hakka cuisine, drinks, desserts and gift ideas. Each section introduces the culture, the origins and characteristics of the dishes presented. Through clips and photos, famous chefs, food critics, connoisseurs and professionals offer their contribution to explain to the world the rich culinary heritage and diverse ethnic influences that give Taiwanese cuisine a special place on the gastronomic globe.
