The 20 year-old lightweight boxer was defeated by the Irish Paddy Barnes who won with a score of 23 to 18. He will meet China's Zhou Shiming in the semi-final. The Indian team has criticized judges for having penalized Devendro several times.

To date, the Indian medal stands at three bronze and one silver.
