Singapore (AsiaNews/Agencies) - Robuchon au Dôme, situated at the dome of Grand Lisboa Hotel, home to the world's richest casino, was voted the best restaurant in Asia. Singapore's Waku Ghin Japanese restaurant came in second, followed by Hong Kong L'Atelier, this according to the Miele Guide, which every year picks Asia's top 20 and the world's best 500 restaurants.
Each of the restaurants in the Miele Guide is selected after a voting process that involves food-and-beverage industry professionals, food writers, restaurant critics and the wealthy public.
In fact, two glasses of wine at the Robuchon au Dôme can cost more than US$ 200. A table d'hôte menu can be US$ 500 to 700.
Joel Robuchon, 68, from Poitiers (France), is considered the world's greatest chef, leader in the nouvelle cuisine, and a highly imaginative artiste with ingredients and savours.
His first post toppled Singapore's Iggy's, a European restaurant owned by Ignatius Chan that won a record three times.
The Miele Guide was established in 2008. Each year, it releases a list with its top 20 restaurants in Asia. Here are this year's finalists (with last year's ranking in parentheses):
