Manila (AsiaNews/Agencies) The World Health Organisation (WHO)has just released the Annual control report on tuberculosis (tb). According to this report one third of the world's population is infected with TB. Each year nearly one million deaths take place in the South-East Asia and Pacific region. Tuberculosis kills 4 people worldwide every minute and 1,000 people every day: 100 are under 8 years old.
95 % of the tuberculosis cases are reported from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Myanmar and Thailand; in all of these countries, TB has been identified as the topmost deadly cause.
TB's virus produces powerful infected cells, which are the cause of the terrible disease's diffusion: if you are sick with TB, you are likely to infect another 15 people in just one year. A lack of sanitary and prevention's interposition are also addicted to be the complaint's diffusion cause. According to WHO, those interposition are "absolutely inadeguate".
TB accounts for one third of AIDS deaths worldwide. It is the biggest killer of people who are HIV-positive. In those regions, TB sends many self-sustaining families into poverty. If the breadwinner of a family is TB's infected, he or she will lose, automatically, the job.
