Afghanistan: local governor dies in, mosque bombing
At least 15 people were injured. The explosion took place in Puli Alam, the provincial capital of Lagar . The victim, Arsala Jamal , was greeting some of the faithful at the end of the prayer , when the bomb detonated . Perpetrators still unknown. The rural areas of the country are under the control of the Taliban.

Kabul ( AsiaNews / Agencies) - This morning, a bomb exploded outside a mosque in the Lagar province , southern Afghanistan , killing the local governor and seriously injuring 15 people. When the explosion occurred the victim , Arsala Jamal (see photo) , had stopped to greet some of the faithful at the end of the prayer for Eid al -Adha , the Feast of Sacrifice celebrated every year during the Hajj ( pilgrimage to Mecca ) .

So far no one has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, it is known that - as in most of the rural areas of the country - the Taliban are taking over control in the area.

The mosque is located in Puli Alam , the capital of Kagar , and is the largest in the province . Arsal Jamal was elected governor in April. In the past, he had ruled the province of Khost . The attack takes place a few days after the arrest of Latif Mehsud, a Taliban leader in Pakistan by the U.S. military. Official sources said he is be a close friend of Hakimullah Mehsud ,  at the head of the Pakistani Taliban .
