Naogaon (AsiaNews) - The Commission for Family Life in Lokhikul Parish (Diocese of Rajshahi) recently held a daylong seminar on reproductive health and the development of family life to help young people form and build healthy families on the basis of sound values. About 150 high school and college students, mostly Catholic, attended the event.
"We wanted to inform Catholic youths about reproductive health, because they don't have clear ideas about it. But we are responsible for them," said Fr Emil Ekka, who organised the seminar.
"In the future, they will form family, so they need to have some basic tips about reproductive health," he added.
During the seminar, health care workers spoke with teenagers about sexual transmitted diseases, especially AIDS.
"This training was timely and appropriate for us," said Bidhan, one of the participating youths. "It made us more aware about reproductive health and other basic health issues."
In Bangladesh, the Episcopal Commission for Family Life is promoting the well-being of Christian families by organising various activities.
This is intended to protect them from errors and abuses and show support for the Church's doctrine on marriage and family life.
