The Church in Hong Kong has three new auxiliary bishops
The Holy Father appointed Vicar General Michael Yeung, Vicar of Opus Dei for East Asia Rev Stephen Lee, and Fr Joseph Ha, former regional superior of the Friars Minor in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong (AsiaNews) - The Diocese of Hong Kong has three new auxiliary bishops. The Vatican Information Service announced the papal appointments today, communicated to the diocesan curia and staff at 6 pm, Hong Kong time.

The three appointees are Mgr Michael Yeung Ming-cheung, vicar general of the diocese and a member of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum; Mgr Stephen Lee Bun Sang, vicar of Opus Dei for East Asia; and Fr Joseph Ha Chi-shing, a former superior of the Franciscan Order of Friars Minor in Hong Kong.

Mgr Yeung, 68, was born in Shanghai. After a professional experience in an import-export company, he entered the seminary at age 26. In addition to pastoral work with the diocesan Caritas, he holds master degrees in Social Communications (Syracuse, US) and Philosophy and Education (Harvard, US).

Mgr Lee, 58, was born in Hong Kong. He graduated in architecture in London. At university, he encountered the spirituality of Opus Dei and became a numerary member. After his experience in the professional world, he began to study theology and became a priest in 1988.

Fr Ha, 55, was born in Hong Kong. After his secondary education at a Catholic school, he entered the novitiate at the Franciscan Friars, where he made ​​his solemn profession on 27 August 1988. He studied in Italy and the United States. An expert in the field of vocations, he has been a consultant for the Commission for the Church in China.

The diocese has scheduled a press conference for tomorrow afternoon to present the new bishops.
