Tripoli (AsiaNews/Agencies) - The repatriation has begun of dozens of Indian nurses trapped in Libya. This morning the first group of 44 nurses landed at Kochi (Kerala) with a flight from Dubai. P. Sudeep, CEO of Norka-Roots, the state agency in charge of the welfare of migrants from Kerala confirmed their safe arrival.
Each nurse received a travel voucher for 2 thousand rupees (about 25 Euros). Yesterday evening the nurses flew from the Tunisian border to Dubai and from there were transferred on a scheduled flight.
43 more Indian nurses are on the Tunisian border, waiting for to be repatriated. 10 more nurses are expected to arrive home this evening.
All of them are part of a group of 120 nurses "and other Indian workers" who had expressed a desire to leave Libya to return home.
