Dhaka (AsiaNews) - Encourage religious life of young priests and nuns in Bangladesh through the example of the older priests to improve their vocation. This is the meaning of the seminar which was held at the Centre of Savar Bcr (in the district of Dhaka) 10 to 12 July.
The three day session was attended by 63 young religious from all over the country. "The seminar has encouraged me to lead my consecrated life in a more active way," a young nun tells AsiaNews, adding that she also learned a lot about the apostolic, community and spiritual life. "We should have this type of seminar every year. They help us gain new energy for our work. "
The event was organized by the Sub-Committee of young religious of the Conference of Religious of Bangladesh (BCR). Fr. Kajol Costa, of the Congregation of the Holy Cross and organizer of the seminar, reports that the objective was to enable young people to renew their life choice. "Today religious– he reports - face many challenges. We work in schools, colleges and medical centers, where most people are of a different faith. We face many problems. This seminar helps participants to understand how to overcome challenges through the teachings of the Catholic Church. "
Established in 1978, the Conference of Religious of Bangladesh has the expressed goal of increasing contact between the various congregations in the country and study issues of greater interest. It also coordinates the activities of the groups at a diocesan and national level.
Fr. Costa adds: "Some religious elders shared their life experiences with the young participants. In this way their experience may be teaching and guidance.
