Seoul (AsiaNews / Agencies) - Seoul and Pyongyang have announced that the inter-Korean summit will be held next April 27th. The news was released this morning by a joint statement issued at the end of a high-level preparatory meeting between the representatives of the two Koreas (see photo 1), on the north side of the border village of Panmunjom, in the demilitarized zone.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will meet in the "Peace House" on the south side of the village. Representatives of the two sides will meet next April 4 to discuss the protocol and security related to their meeting. The inter-Korean summit will be the third in the history of the two countries and the first since Kim Jong-un has taken power. The precedents, in 2000 and 2007, were held in Pyongyang.

Meanwhile, the two Koreas are continuing to pursue "artistic and sporting" diplomacy that began with the Olympics: just today, a troupe composed of 160 South Korean singers (see picture 2), accompanied by 30 taekwondo athletes, left for Pyongyang.
