Trump praises “very good” relationship between US and North Korea

Before meeting Pakistani Prime Minister Khan at the White House, the US president talked about the relationship with Pyongyang. The two sides are in touch again: That is “very positive”. For Trump, when the two are “ready we'll be meeting" to discuss denuclearisation.

Washington (AsiaNews/Agencies) – The relationship between the United States and North Korea is "very positive", US President Donald J. Trump told reporters just before meeting Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan at the White House.

The two sides will sit down to discuss denuclearisation very soon. In fact, “There was a little correspondence recently, very positive correspondence with North Korea. Again, there's no nuclear testing, there's no missile testing, there's no nothing. I think we will, yeah, at a certain point, when they're ready we'll be meeting."

Trump did not say whether the correspondence was between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

What is certain is that in the last year, the two exchanged several personal letters and met three times: after the first historic summit in Singapore, in June 2018, they met again in February in Vietnam and surprisingly last 30 June on the border between the two Koreas.
