"Northeast India has become a hotspot for human trafficking which is a cruel form of violence against women and each of today's participants must pledge not to fall prey to traffickers," said the sister from the congregation of the Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians (MSMHC).

Likro Mossang, president of the Women's Association in Miao Diocese, addressing the participants including 11 and 12 grade students, said that adequate education and awareness is the right way to combat violence against women and encouraged them to take responsibility with their education.

The secretary of the Commission for Women in East Arunachal Pradesh, Sister Mary Sarkar MSMHC, also spoke on the occasion.
