The last letter of Aftab, an innocent Pakistani Catholic who was hanged
Sentenced to death in 1992 when he was 15 for a multiple murder he did not commit, Aftab was hanged at dawn this morning, this despite appeals by the Catholic Church and human rights activists. In his last letter, he writes, “I am innocent, but I do not know whether that will make any difference. [. . .] I wish that Pakistani people could possess a sense of nationality that overrode their sectarianism.”
