For Card Barbarin, in Mary, God's Mercy embraces Islam
On 25 March, the cardinal took part in an interfaith ceremony in Jamhour, marking the Solemnity of the Annunciation, a national holiday in Lebanon. In his address, he praised the value of Mercy, common source that binds Christians and Muslims. In Mary, "our mother", the faithful of the two religions might be able to "understand each other better."
