A long and tortuous journey, complicated by mutual misunderstandings, must not undermine the possibility of opening channels of cooperation in the future. Episcopal appointments must be left in the hands of the Pope, but the Vatican must better understand the reasoning of the Chinese government and learn to trust more. Underlying need for patience on all sides involved.
