A young bishop for Chongqing, one of China’s megacities

Father Andrew Ding Wang, 44, was ordained today under the 2018 Sino-Vatican agreement. Leo XIV conferred on him the title of archbishop, as required by the jurisdiction of the Holy See (and the history of the local Church), even though China has no metropolitan sees. Three of the four bishops chosen in recent weeks in China were born after 1980.

    Asia's richest woman Nina Wang was laid to rest with many of Hong Kong's rich and powerful in attendance. Her estate is estimated to be US$ 4.2 billion, but her heir’s name is still unknown. Some newspapers suggest she may have left her fortune to her personal magus, fung shui trainer or barristers.

A chemical plant releases a toxic cloud but no one warns the population. At least 47 coal miners are trapped in three different mines as a result of flooding, collapse and explosions.
