Year of Prayer, an initiative desired by Pope Francis
At a press conference, Archbishop Fisichella explained the meaning and ways of the initiative called by the pontiff in preparation for the 2025 Jubilee. It will not be a series of initiatives, but of an attitude nurtured starting with the disciples' request to Jesus: "Teach us to pray". Pope Francis sets up a Commission for the martyrs of the 21st century
As Pope John Paul II’s commission did in 2000, this new body will draft an ecumenical catalogue in view of the Jubilee of 2025 for those who gave their lives for the Gospel in our time. In 2000, more than 1,700 martyrs were counted in 20th century Asia. The new commission includes Fr Dinh Anh Nhue Nguyen, from Vietnam.
