Negotiations between the Vatican and Israel move forward

Representatives of the Holy See and of the state of Israel met yesterday in Tel Aviv, to discuss a future agreement on Church finance and property questions. A joint statement.

Tel Aviv (AsiaNews) - An atmosphere of "great cordiality" between the Vatican and Israeli delegations, which met in Tel Aviv yesterday for a new stage of negotiations aimed at resolving questions related to Church assets and their fiscal status.  The information comes in a joint statement that confirms the intention of carrying the negotiations forward.

"The Bilateral Permanent Working Commission between the Holy See and the State of Israel", the statement reads, "met this morning , Monday 17 March 2008 to continue negotiations on the Economic Agreement concerning fiscal and property matters".

"The Delegations met in an atmosphere of great cordiality, carried forward their task, and renewed their shared determination to spped up their work in order to conclude the Agreement as soon as possible. They agreed to meet again on 9 April 2008". (AC)
