Shanghai (AsiaNews/Agencies) - Two subway trains collided in Shaghai this afternoon, injuring at least 245 people. The incident comes two months after a devastating collision between two super-speed trains at Wenzhou in Zhejiang, which caused the death of 40 passengers.
The metro company says that the incident was caused by a signal malfunction, causing a train to crash into the back of another train. The disaster of Wenzhou also occurred due to the non-functioning of a signal.
The collision occurred at about 14:51 at a station on Line 10. Photos diffused on the web show bloodied people, others unconscious, others with head injuries.
The police shut down nine stations, and organized the evacuation of about 500 passengers.
Many bloggers have commented on the incident, accusing the authorities of carelessness, being concerned only with growth and technical development and disregarding passenger's safety. Others question the country's frenetic development, which they claim is too fast, since it shows no concern for the quality of life.
