Tokyo (AsiaNews / Agencies) - The earthquake that struck Chile yesterday has caused a small tsunami in northern Japan, where tidal waves were registered this morning. The area is the same one hit in 2011 by a disastrous tsunami that claimed more than 18 thousand lives and provoked a nuclear accident in Fukushima. The authorities have issued a warning, claiming that waves more than 1 meter over the norm could hit the coastal areas. So far, they have not exceeded 20 cm .
