Seoul (AsiaNews / Agencies) - South Korean President Moon Jae-in will travel to Pyongyang in September. The two Koreas announced it with a statement issued today, at the end of a high-level meeting in Panmunjom, on the north side of the village at the border.
It would be the third summit between the two Korean leaders in the space of a few months, after the historic meeting on 27 April. On this occasion, Kim and Moon signed the Panjunmon Declaration, a series of commitments for the peace and denuclearization of the peninsula.
Since then, the dialogue between the two Koreas and collaborative initiatives have advanced in various sectors, from infrastructure and humanitarian aid from the South to the North up to the sports field: the two countries will compete with joint teams in the Asian Games. Within a week there will be a new meeting between separated families.
During today's inter-Korean dialogue, representatives of the two countries also discussed "the state of implementation of the Panmunjom Declaration and held consultations on the problems related to its more active realization". The final date of the summit is yet to be determined.
