Seoul (AsiaNews/Agencies) – The South Korean government confirmed a few hours ago that a missile was launched overnight by North Korea. The move according to Seoul is part of regular military exercises, and was decided one day after South Korean civilians were expelled from the Kaesong industrial complex, where citizens from both nations work together.
A South Korean government source was quoted as saying “North Korea is understood to have shot several missiles, seen as short-range, in the West Sea (Yellow Sea), as part of regular military exercises”.
Only yesterday the leader of South Korea’s armed forces was quoted as saying that he considered the hypothesis of an attack on the North Korean military bases, the first sign of open clashes since the end of the Korean civil war.
In reply Pyongyang ordered the expulsion of all “South Korean foreigners” from the Kaesong industrial complex: this gesture is a strong signal being sent by the communist regime to the newly elected and hard-line conservative South Korean president Lee Myung-bak.
