Seoul (AsiaNews/Agencies) - So far North Korea has conducted tests for the coronavirus on about 32,000 people, but no case of Covid-19 has been found, states a report issued today by the World Health Organisation (WHO). From 25 June to 1 July, 718 North Koreans were swabbed, bringing the total number of citizens tested to 32,512, but none were found to be infected.
The news comes after North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un admitted at the end of June that there had been a "grave incident" in the country's fight against the pandemic.
Although no cases of Covid-19 have been recorded since the start of the global health crisis, Pyongyang has imposed tight border controls and measures. Through the WHO's Covax programme, the country has reserved about 2 million vaccines, but they have not yet been delivered. Last week, the regime refused doses of AstraZeneca and turned to Russia asking for free supplies of Sputnik-V.
