Seoul (AsiaNews) – The Archdiocese of Seoul is taking part in the “Vaccine-Sharing Campaign” launched by Pope Francis.
Cardinal Andrew Yeom Soo-jung, Archbishop of Seoul, announced the decision during Easter Mass. In it, he urged the faithful to participate (manifesto pictured), noting that the Pope called several times “for universal access to vaccines” against the pandemic.
The prelate explained that the pontiff “urged the entire international community, in a spirit of global responsibility, to commit to overcoming delays in the distribution of vaccines and to facilitate their distribution, especially in the poorest countries”.
In solidarity with the Holy Father, the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Korea (CBCK) “decided to launch a 'Vaccine Sharing Campaign' to support the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines, particularly to the world’s poor countries”.
To this end, the Catholic Lay Apostolate Council of Seoul and the Catholic Peace Broadcasting Corporation have joined the initiative and plan to run a telephone fundraiser and make a video to inform and inspire people across the country
The campaign, which is open to everyone, will last until 27 November, the last jubilee day for the 200th anniversary of the birth of Saint Andrew Kim Tae-gon, Korea's first native Catholic priest.
